About me

Hi, I’m Peter. Plugin Nomads started after I’d bought one too many plugins because of hype, and some of them sounded amazing in the demo video but did nothing at all for my mixes..

Meanwhile, really good free tools kept slipping past me because nobody was talking about them. This is the site I wish I’d had back then.

You’ll find both free and paid plugins here, along with sample packs. Some come from the big names everyone already knows, and others come from small developers putting out their very first release. If a free plugin does the job just as well as an expensive one, I’ll say so. And when something pricey is worth every cent, you’ll hear that from me too!

Everything gets tested on my own projects. Before comparing anything, I match the volume levels, because the louder option almost always sounds better whether it actually is or not, and that trick has fooled me more times than I’d like to admit. The annoying stuff gets mentioned as well, like heavy CPU use, awkward licensing or a messy installer. As for transparency, every review tells you how I got the plugin, whether I paid for it or the developer sent me a free copy, and any affiliate links are clearly marked. Nobody pays to get into my lists. Nobody tells me what to write, either.

Make plugins or sample packs yourself? Feel free to send me what you’ve made, especially if you’re just starting out. I can’t promise to review everything that comes in, but I listen to all of it…

Peter
